Welcome to TGA 2009!

While it is still early in the Tournament season, the TGA is already well represented with members placing in both the CGA One-Day Four Ball at Old North State and the Centennial One-Day at Pinehurst #5. In addition, we had a flight winner at the Carolinas PGA Section Senior Open.

Hugh Quinn played in the Carolinas PGA Section Mid Pines Senior Open and finished first in his age grouping with a two day score of 153 to win by two.

In the CGA events, at Old North State, Chris Cassetta (a new TGA member for 2009) and his partner finished 2nd Gross with a score of 65. Unfortunately, they lost out in a score card playoff for the top spot! Other placings for TGA members included Brad Romine and John Nieters (T-3rd); and Tom Thorpe and his partner (T-11th). Mark Nieters and Kerry Shronts also represented the TGA, but came up a few shots short of placing in the money.

At the Centennial One-Day at Pinehurst #5, John Sandifer (see photo below) won 1st Place Net in the Men’s A Division. John wasted no time in qualifying again for the year end CGA Tournament of Champions. The rest of the year he gets to play for fun! Brian Sainz and Stan Samoska each finished one stroke out of cashing in this tournament.

Congratulations to everyone that participated in these two events; and thank you for representing the TGA so well.

Check back here often as we will continue to announce the results of TGA members as they play in various events across the state. If you know of something that we might have missed that we should announce, contact us at mens_tga@yahoo.com and we will try to get it posted here.
