Members of the TGA continue to represent us well, as we had several of our members cash during late February and early March CGA events.
On March 15th at Seven Lakes – aptly named since it rained for four days straight, including the day of the event – Eddie James fired an 82 to win low Gross in the Mens B Division to qualify for the year end Tournament of Champions. Dave Larmour, Matt Fox and Paul Davis also braved the elements, but did not finish in the money.
At the One-Day Four-Ball at Pinehurst #8 on February 26th; Brad Romine and Chris Cassetta (a welcome addition to the TGA membership) finished second Gross with a score of 71. John Nieters and Steve Frucht (another welcome addition for 2009) also shot 71 – but looks like they lost a playoff for the Gross prize, didn’t get enough handicap strokes and lost a playoff to try and grab a share of any Net prizes!
Meanwhile, at the Seniors One-Day Four-Ball on February 24th at Mid Pines; Ron Morgan and Hugh Quinn shot a 72 and settled for 3rd Net. It isn’t often that you will see Ron Morgan and Net in the same sentence!
Looking at the upcoming events and the early entry lists, the TGA will be well represented during the month of March. If you haven’t signed up for any of the CGA events, we would encourage you to do so. By playing tournament golf, you get to test yourself not only against the field, but also against yourself and your own abilities. Who knows, you might get to represent the TGA at the year-end Tournament of Champions!
