Triad Golf Tournament of Champions

Chris Cassetta played in the Triad Golf Today’s Tournament of Champions on March 28th and 29th, at Greensboro National Golf Course. Chris finished 3rd with a score of 149. Chris was in the event as a result of winning his former club’s championship last year. Great job, Chris!

CGA Mid-Amateur

At the CGA Mid-Am Qualifier at Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst on March 30th, John Sandifer won medalist honors with a two-under 69. Mark Nieters also qualified with a 75 for the tournament at Treyburn in Durham on April 17-19. The top 24 players qualified for the finals. Way to represent.

Other TGA players who attempted to qualify but missed the cut include John Nieters, Steve Frucht, Brad Romine, and Kerry Shronts at Pinewild. David Brown, Thomas Smithand Paul Davis missed out in their qualifying attempts at Pine Lake in Charlotte.

CGA One-Day Events

Johnny Colvard and partner Gary Schatz (non-TGA member) won another Senior Four Ball, this time at Forest Oaks on March 30th with a Net score of 65 to take first place in the A Flight. Alright Johnny, you’ve now won two and have more than qualified for the Tournament of Champions in Pinehurst so give the other guys a chance, okay?

The TGA was well presented with seven (7) members trying their hand at the Falls Village One-Day event on March 22nd. Hugh Quinn won the Senior flight with a Gross score of 75. In the A Flight, Greg Howard finished 3rd low Net with a score of 76 and Terry Payne finished 4th low Net with a score of 77. Jim Williams lost a card playoff for the final Net spot in the B division.

Johnny Colvard and partner Gary Schatz (in their first win) shot a Net 65 to win the A flight in the Senior Four Ball on March 23rd at Catawba Country Club. Ken Hester and Mike Kite (both TGA members) took third low Net in the C flight in the same tournament with a 66.

On the following day at Rock Barn, Ken Hester and Mike Kite did one better by winning the C flight in the Senior Four Ball with a 68.
