Dog Days

The team of Ron Morgan and Bill Goodson played great at Old North State on August 17 in a Senior Four Ball. They shot 65 with a net 64. But another team also shot 65 and our guys lost a scorecard playoff for 1st place – this marks the 4th time over the last couple of years they have tied for first in a Four Ball event only to lose the playoff.

At the NC Mid-Am qualifier on August 25 at Pine Brook, John Sandifer made the cut with a 76. Hugh Quinn and Joe Agee missed the cut.

At the NC Mid-Am qualifier on August 26 at Mimosa Hills in Morganton, Mark Nieters shot a one-under par 71 to easily qualify and join his already exempt brother, John, into the tournament proper at Pinewood CC in Asheboro in mid-September. Brad Romine and Steve Frucht missed the cut.

At the Carolinas Senior qualifier at Mimosa on August 27, Hugh Quinn shot 72 and made the cut to play in the tournament at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, SC in late September.

CGA Four Ball at Ballantyne, July 20 – Johnny Colvard and Tom Smith took 1st place Net with a score of 61!

In the NC Players Championship at Oak Valley and Tanglewood Championship, July 24-26, Ryan Sullivan (Handicap Only Member) won the tournament with a three day total of 208 (-4). Chris Cassetta finished T-6 with a score of 217. In the Senior Flight, Bill Goodson finished 3rd with a total of 226. Hugh Quinn finished 6th with 229. Other TGA players in the field included Kris Carlson, Joe Agee (Handicap Only Member), James Gore, Ted Davis, Eddie McBride, Bob Kokoski, Larry Hutchens and Joe Crocker.
