Welcome to 2010

A lot of TGA Members participated in various CGA events during the first few weeks of Spring. Here are the top performers.

On Monday, March 29th; in a rescheduled CGA Four Ball event at Old North State, the team of Chris Cassetta and non-TGA member Ben Yeager took 1st place gross with a 67!

At the CGA Four Ball at Pinehurst #6 on Tuesday the 30th, the team of Steve Frucht and John Nieters shot 66 to take 1st place gross!

And at the CGA Mid-Am Qualifying at Sapona CC on Thursday, April 1st; Chris Cassetta (74) and Mark Absher (77) made the cut to advance to the tournament proper on April 16-18 at Furman GC in Greenville, SC.

In the tournament, Chris Cassetta struggled in the first round, shooting an 83. He followed that up with a much improved 76. Thinking he might not make the cut after two rounds, he drove back to W-S, only to learn late that evening that he had made the cut so he got on the road early Sunday for the 3 hour drive to play the final round. Chris ultimately finished outside the top 30, which would have earned an automatic invite into next year’s event. Guess he will just have to qualify again!

Kudos to John Nieters for being tournament medalist in the recent Triad Golf Today’s Tournament of Champions. This event is for Club Champions and a team from the player’s home club. While John was not eligible for the overall championship since he did not win our club championship last fall, he, along with club champion Chris Cassetta, Mark Nieters, and Brad Romine participated as a team in the event. John’s two round score of 142 at Greensboro National won by 1 shot over two players.

Good playing guys!

The TGA has started out the year in good form so let’s keep it going as many of you play in future CGA events!
