Easy Day Tournament Results

On a beautiful Saturday in mid-February with a light breeze and temps in the low 60s,  Bobby Pledger lit up the Reynolds Course with a  64 to take 1st place in the 1st Flight.  Cliff Venable and Jerry Visintine shot net 54 and 58 respectively in the 5th Flight to finish 1st and 2nd.  Mark Robson and Bob Kokoski had 68s to lead the 2nd Flight and 3rd Flight respectively.  Mark Hartson and Gordon Daly tied for 1st in the 4th Flight with 72s and Mark won on a matching of cards over the back nine – 34 to 36.  Other scoring highlights included Michael Quiggle shooting 31 on the front nine and Terry Payne shooting 30 on the back nine.

Skin results were very interesting as there were only 4 skins out in the Net Division and 5 skins out in the Gross Division.  It took a score of 1 to win three of the net skins with strategic use of available trash and a score of 2 to win 3 of the gross skins.  Michael Quiggle and Mark Hartson won 2 skins each. For those who did not pick up their winnings on Saturday, the Tournament Chairman will get those to you over the next few weeks provided he doesn’t need any extra cash while on a road trip to Key West.  See attachment for complete results.

For those who played in Easy Day, the Tournament Chairman would like feedback on the Continuous Putting Rule that was utilized.  Please e-mail any feedback to hjq111@windstream.net.  We are also interested in additional ways to improve the pace of play so please share any thoughts you might have.  For the half of the field that started on #10, everyone completed their round in 4 hours or less.  It took a little longer for those who started on #1.

Next tournament up is the Texas Scramble on March 17 on the Championship Course with tee times starting at 12:30 pm.  The format for the Texas Scramble is: all players hit a tee shot and the best one is chosen.  From there, each player plays his own ball the rest of the hole.  The computer will assign foursomes so just sign up no later than March 10.

As Tanglewood starts to get busier in the spring, the TGA must release tee times back to the club so early sign-ups will become necessary and we may not be able to accommodate late sign-ups.   Thank you!
