The CGA is changing from GolfNet to the USGA’s GHIN (Golf Handicap and Information Network) for 2013. The CGA sent out this release last Friday:
|GHIN Handicap Transition Update: Handicap Score Posting Stops at 12:00am on December 1
WEST END, NC (11/23/12) – The transition from the GolfNet handicap system to the USGA GHIN handicap service is almost upon us. CGA members have until Friday, November 30 at 11:59pm to post scores to their handicap records. From December 1 thru early January, the Carolinas will observe a “Handicap Score Posting Holiday” while data is converted into the new system. CGA members will not have the ability to enter scores during the posting holiday. Members are encouraged to hold their score cards for rounds played during this period so they can be posted once the GHIN system is up and running in early January.
You can read more about the transition at the CGA’s GHIN information page.
Without a single campaign slogan, no outside money from PACs, and no debates, the TGA election process proved to be considerably more civil than our recent national elections. To that end, the TGA membership has elected Brian Sainz as the 2nd Vice President for 2013, Mark Robson for Treasurer and David Phillips for Secretary. With all precincts reporting in and twenty-nine votes in total, Brian won by a considerable margin of 26 – 3 over write-in candidate, Mark ‘Mister’ Hartson. Early voting indicated a possibility of voter fraud (how else would Hartson get 3 votes!) and we considered obtaining the services of Jimmy Carter, known for his international work monitoring elections, to monitor our election. Fortunately, those services were not needed as normalcy returned to the process. In the other two races – Mark Robson received 28 votes to 1 for write-in candidate, Dave Larmour. David Phillips was reelected by a similar 28-1 margin over write-in candidate, Dave Orrell.
The election committee has determined that the vote was legal and binding and therefore, the TGA Officers for 2013 are as follows:
|1st Vice President
|2nd Vice President
We express our sincere appreciation to outgoing Treasurer, Jim Williams, for superbly handling those duties for many years.
The TGA Board will be meeting shortly to discuss and plan out the activities for 2013.
Have a great Thanksgiving and make plans to tee it up at the club. Both courses are in the best shape in years and the greens are rolling great.
