Next up is the TGA Red, White and Blue Tournament on Saturday, March 9 with starting times beginning at 12:30 on the Championship Course. Please sign up no later than Friday, March 1 on the TGA website under Tournament Registration
The format for the tournament is as follows – each player selects the 6 holes he will play from the Blue Plates, 6 holes from the White Plates and six holes from the Red Plates/Tees. This is an individual stroke play event. Each player should develop his strategy on what holes he will play from each set of tees prior to the tournament.
On Hole #14, for those who choose the Red Plates/Tees we will be using the Red Plates which are at 500 yards, not the new Red Tees across from the fairway bunker. There are also several holes where Red Plates do not exist so we will be setting up the course close to where the Red Tees were for Easy Day, consistent with the Score Card for the Red Tees.
Prior to the start of the tournament on March 9, there will be a special presentation by Mark Beshears, a fitness expert, on golf fitness. Mark comes highly recommended from Steve Forrest, a local golf professional, and Steve Livingston, a new TGA member. Most of us are always looking for a way to improve our games and sometimes this is not always on the driving range or golf course. Mark will make his presentation at 11 am on March 9 on the second level of the clubhouse outside of the ballroom for about 30-45 minutes. He will demonstrate things we can do to improve our flexibility and strength that we will try that morning.
This is open to all TGA members even if you are not playing in the tournament that day. Come on out and learn some things you can do to improve your golf fitness.
