2020 Regular Inter-Club Update At Bermuda Run

August 29th

Team Tanglewood traveled to Bermuda Run (East) to take on a tough course and tough opponent for our sixth and final match of the regular season.

Unfortunately, while the guys all played well, the team suffered it’s first defeat of the season, losing a hard fought match, 38.5 to 41.5.

Jeremy Ray and Mark Absher played solid and steady (72 and 73!), but it was not enough to overcome the play of former Tanglewood member John Nieters and his partner – who brother-in-lawed in spectacular fashion for a 3 and 2 win.

In the second match, Stevie Blankenship and Gregor Howard — fresh off his runner-up finish in the Forsyth Seniors (!) also played solid, but lost a tough match one down.

In the third match, BJ Richardson and Brian Sainz did just enough to win a tough ‘pillow fight’ with their opponents, and pulled out a 3 and 2 victory.

In the fourth and final match, the team of Jim Williams and Charlie Fisher both played well, but ran into arguably a better sand-bagger than themselves, and lost a heart breaker on the final hole, losing one down.

Even with the loss, team Tanglewood remains in first place in our pod, though Bermuda Run could tie our overall record (5-1) with a win against Oak Valley.

With a route at Oak Valley, Bermuda Run has an outside chance overtaking us in the points total to win our pod – but it would take a big effort.

Either way, team Tanglewood is playoff bound for the second straight year since returning to the regular Inter-club race!
