Jim Williams has been nice enough to track and compile the 2019 list of tournament winners and gift certificate summaries.
There is all kinds of good news. An excerpt from Jim’s analysis:
- 35 Members earned back their membership fee of $120 or greater
- 48 Members earned at least $100 for the year
- 103 Members cashed in at least one event this year, earning at least $20
- 67 Members qualified for the year-end Tournament of Champions
Counting the payouts to the guests as part of the Member/Guest total and the Hatfield and McCoy payouts (which are not counted as part of the ‘official’ money list noted above) – the TGA paid out over $12,000 in Gift certificates for 2019.
That is a testament to the size of the membership this year but also the participation rate for our events. The more people that play in an event – the more places we can pay out.
With the 2019 season drawing to a close and the 2020 season right around the corner, remember to spread the word about the TGA and help the Association continue to grow.

While Mother Nature brought us cold temps and a 30 minute frost delay for Tough Day on Saturday, November 9, the conditions remained calm with little wind and lots of sun. So even though it didn’t get out of the 40s, it was a great day to play. And we had 8 players break 80 (which was very disappointing to me!). But the good news (for me) is that nobody broke par with either their gross or net scores! So Tough Day lived up to its billing.
Flight winners were Men A – Jeremy Ray for gross with 74 and Brandon Miller for net with 74. When’s the last time Brandon has ever won first place net??? Probably when he was 10.
In Men B, Michael Gilmore won his first TGA tournament with a gross score of 88 and Chris Domanski took first place net with a 79.
In Senior A, Greg Howard proved that playing over 240 rounds of golf so far this year paid off with his 74 for first place gross. Mark Harper, Sr. who hits it way too far for a senior golfer shot even par 70 to earn 1st place net.
In Senior B, Tom Long came through with his first win in a TGA event shooting 89 to take first place gross. Mike Martin took first place net in a scorecard playoff with a 77.
In Super Seniors, Tom Thorpe with one of his few starts in TGA events this year, took 1st place gross with a 79. Bob (need to see my physical therapist) Kokoski shot a net 73 to take first place.
Five players won for the first time this year so that makes them eligible for the Tournament of Champions next Saturday. Those new additions are Jeremy Ray, Michael Gilmore, Tom Long, Tom Thorpe and Bob Kokoski. Deadline to sign up is this afternoon at 6 pm. $10 entry fee and payouts are in $$.
Complete results are here and remember the TGA will post these scores as we do all Tournament scores.
