But which Blankenship was it since we have two?  It was Stevie <\/strong>who took first place in the Men A Flight with a 64!   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stevie Blankenship<\/strong> won a scorecard playoff over Brandon Miller<\/strong>\n in the Men A Division.  They tied with 8-under par 64s.  Utilizing the \nUSGA\/CGA method for settling ties, Stevie took the first gross title of \nthe year.  Brandon took 1st<\/sup> net.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Men B<\/strong>, Matt Edwards<\/strong> shot an even par 72 to win 1st<\/sup> place gross.  John Holzwarth<\/strong> shot 69 to take 1st<\/sup> place net.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Senior Men A<\/strong>, new member Barry Kennedy<\/strong> established himself right away with a 4-under par 68 to take 1st<\/sup> place gross.  Eddie James<\/strong> shot 65 to take 1st<\/sup> place Net.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Senior Men B<\/strong>, Mark (Captain, 2018 CGA Senior Interclub Championship Team) Robson<\/strong> shot 68, 4-under par, to earn a two-shot victory.  Charlie (I always win something) Fisher<\/strong> took 1st<\/sup> place net with a 63.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Super Senior, Hugh Quinn<\/strong> shot 65 to take 1st<\/sup> place gross.  Joe Crocker<\/strong> shot 63 to take 1st<\/sup> place net.  We may be old but we\u2019re good (at least from the red tees)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone who wins 1st<\/sup> place, gross or net, in any of our ten tournaments becomes eligible for our year-end Tournament of Champions<\/strong> in November.  So Stevie, Brandon, Matt, Eddie, Mark, Charlie, Hugh and Joe have already punched their tickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the overall Gross Championship<\/strong>, Stevie Blankenship<\/strong> shot 64 and won a scorecard playoff over Brandon Miller.  For the overall Net Championship<\/strong>, Hugh Quinn\u2019s<\/strong> 62 took 1st<\/sup> place in a scorecard playoff with Brandon Miller.  Just not Brandon\u2019s day! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were 5 Skins<\/strong> out: Holes 6 (3) & 14 (3) \u2013 Mark Harper Sr<\/strong>.; Hole #10 (3) Eddie James<\/strong>: Hole #12 (2) Tim Lawson<\/strong>; and Hole #15 (3) Terry Payne<\/strong>.  If you didn\u2019t pick up your $$, you can see one of the Officers next time you are at the club.  Officers are Jim Williams<\/strong>, Hugh Quinn<\/strong>, Hayes Smith<\/strong>, Brian Sainz<\/strong> and Joe Brooks<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty-two players shot even par or better gross.  We had ten new members play in their first TGA event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weather\n wise, we had a very good day.  While it was very cool at the beginning,\n it warmed up nicely throughout the round, nearly hitting 60.  A big \nimprovement over the previous Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to all who lent a hand with this event.  It takes a team to pull off these events and thanks to Jim Williams<\/strong>, Nick Hamner<\/strong>, Hayes Smith<\/strong>, Brian Sainz<\/strong>, Steve Livingston<\/strong>, Joe Brooks<\/strong> and the TLGA Ladies<\/strong> at registration. And of course, the Tanglewood staff \u2013 Kitty<\/strong>, Chad<\/strong>, Daniel<\/strong> and Mike <\/strong>\u2013 help make these events happen.  If I missed someone, my apologies, but please let me know.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up is our March Tournament<\/strong>, scheduled for Saturday, March 23 on the Championship Course with morning tee times<\/strong>. \n It\u2019s designed to be a two-player partner tournament and we\u2019re working \non the details.  More will be coming out later this week.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n
