JK and Sr. Had their hands full against a strong team with home field advantage. Both played well, but couldn’t hold off Cabarrus number one guys, and suffered a 3 and 2 loss.

Our second away team had Josh Dalton and David Wilson.

Josh and David played a practice round at Cabarrus on Wednesday, and it must have paid off. Josh had to hit a few 250 yard hybrids (jealous) off the tee on some of the shorter holes in route to a career low round of 72.

David played solid as well, wearing his opponents down with smart use of his strokes.

These guys won 5 and 3, which was a huge away win. (Though not the largest margin of victory for the day — stay tuned.) Congrats to Josh and David on some fantastic play.

Our first home team consisted of Kenny Davis and Brady Rocky.

Kenny and Brady went back and forth with Cabarrus on the front nine and finished all square through nine. Brady was fighting a crooked driver which was as much as 10 yards off line at times, but Kenny was there to back him up.

Our guys started to pull away on the back nine and closed out the match 3 and 2. Great playing.

Our second home team consisted of Glenn Makitka and Kyle Smith.

Kyle was looking good on the range and it carried over to the course. Kyle and Glenn won 8 of the first 9 holes!

Kyle gave some of the credit to Glenn, who by the way, shot 35 on the front! Yes 35, which their opponents continuously brought up.

Glenn was not phased by their comments and continued his stellar play in route to a 72, and an 8 and 6 victory.

Their opponents were an accidental late change in the lineup, resulting in 2 less strokes for Tanglewood.

Glenn took this in stride and the previous night said “ a buzz saw cares not about the tree”. I need some of what he was having. Great playing and congrats to Glenn and Kyle for their stellar play.

This was a big win for Tanglewood with a 51 to 29 victory.

Mark and I want to thank everyone for for playing this weekend and participating in the practice round. Your guys hard work and effort definitely paid off.

We have a quick turn around and play UNC Finley next Saturday. For now, let’s enjoy the victory, and see if Glenn can share from his stash.

GO TANGLEWOOD!!!

from BJ Richardson, Regular Inter-club co-captain Saturday, September 24th, Tanglewood played their first playoff match of the year, which was a second round match due to Tanglewood having a bye in the first round, against Cabarrus Country Club.
