The TGA\u2019s Super Senior Interclub Team hosted its first home match of the season today, 5\/6\/2026, vs Catawba CC. With cool temps and sporadic spritz of rain, Team Tanglewood came away with a 42.5 to 37.5 win to even our season record at 1-1!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our first team of Lee Ross and Mike Utt shot a mundane even par 35 on the front but was still good enough for a two up lead. Then they blew it up with a nice little net 29 on the back to come away with a 15-5 win. Lee had 4 birdies on the back and Mike had a birdie and net eagle. Lee shot 68 and Mike shot 75.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our second team of Del Long and Mark Hartson also got ahead of their opponents on the front with a two up lead. On the back, they shot a very solid 2 under par 33 which propelled them to a 13.5 – 6.5 win. Del shot 76. One of their opponents was Del\u2019s Little League teammate from a long, long time ago!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our third team of Joe Crocker and Larry Fine also had a two up lead on their opponents after the front nine. One highlight was Larry\u2019s birdie on #7. With his ball on the front of the green and a back right hole location, he dropped in a 65\u201d putt!
On the back nine, their opponents came back to tie the match before an 18th hole birdie by Catawba led to a one down loss for us. Final score was 8.5 to 11.5. Larry shot 76.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our fourth team of Dave Pilley and Billy Sawyers ran into a very tough match. Their opponents shot an even par 35 to take a five up lead after nine. Our guys kept it closer on the back nine but ultimately lost 5.5 – 14.5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
