2022 Club Championship Tournament

TGA President Mark Harper Jr. with Club Champion Mark Nieters

Tanglewood’s version of “The Open Championship” was held the weekend of 9/10-9/11.

The courses remained open with moderate temperatures and moderate wind, but the rain was steady and sometimes hard on Saturday.

Sunday saw some reprieve, as the rain gave way to mostly clouds and a few scattered drizzles.

Due to the weather, the field dropped considerably before the first tee on Saturday, and even more so after the first nine.

It was a battle of skill, weather, and attrition for our winners.

And so, the news you’ve all been waiting for — the winners!!

Mark “Bones” Nieters is our CLUB Champion, shooting rounds of 74 (in the muck Saturday) and 73 on Sunday, bettering the field by three shots over the nearest competitor.

In the Seniors Division, the weather took it’s toll on Saturday, and left much of the field either on their couch at home, or in their car driving home after 9+ holes.

The remaining competitors battled it out, with Mark Harper Sr. besting Scott Wearn in six EXTRA holes Sunday. Mark and Scott both finished the first 36 holes in 159.

In the Super Senior Division, Hugh Quinn sailed (literally) to the crown with a five shot victory, posting rounds of 75 and 70, respectively.

Please take a moment to congratulate all of our winners.
