2024 Senior Interclub AGAINST Stoney Creek

from Brian Sainz and Mark Harper Sr., Senior Interclub Co-Captains

Stoney Creek traveled to Tanglewood today and thoroughly enjoyed our new clubhouse and setup.

So much so, they put a tremendous whupping on us, and beat us fair and square, 48.5 to 31.5.

All of our guys played well, but Stoney Creek’s guys just played better – our hats are off to them.

One particularly good team for us today was Del Long and and interclub rookie Rick Kearns. Del shot a very nice 79, and Rick a 82, for a best-ball score of 73 – which tied their Stoney Creek counterparts. It was our only “non-loss” for the day!

We close out the regular season traveling to Colonial next week – a great track and super bunch of guys, and then hopefully get revenge traveling to Stoney Creek on June 25th.

We need to make a late-season push and win at least one of those matches to make the playoffs again this year.

Wish us well!!

2024 Senior Interclub AGAINST Oak Valley

from Brian Sainz and Mark Harper Sr., Senior Interclub Co-Captains

Today, May 7th, Oak Valley traveled to Tanglewood intent on taking both home and away matches from Tanglewood, but our guys showed up strong.

In the first match, Gregor Howard and Brian Sainz started off hot and rode some good ham and eggs, or brother-in-lawing, whichever you prefer, for a front nine 32, and a 3-up lead. Oak Valley came alive in a big way on the back, and birdied 15 and 16, and parred 17 to tie the match. But Gregor made a huge, clutch, downhill putt on 18 to seal the match.

In our second group, the “Long brothers”, Del and Tom played FANTASTIC and built a HUGE lead en route to a front nine 30, and a 6-up lead. They held on throughout the back and won convincingly 4-up.

Our third group of Rodie Marovich and Gene Cox fought hard and played well, but ended up falling 3-down to a tough Oak Valley team.

Our final match saw Steve Livingstone and Mark Hartson get under the opponents skin just enough – just kidding — Steve was a gentleman as always…. and won their match 2-up.

In the end, Tanglewood won 43-36, and evened our record to 1-1. Next up, at home against Stoney Creek on May 15th.

TANGLEWOOD!!!
