  • USGA Rules apply except when superseded by local rules.
  • Standard TGA Protocol Rules apply.
  • Range finders that measure yardage only are allowed.
  • The format is a 36 hole stroke play event.
  • The field will be divided into five Divisions based upon the handicap index and age:

  • The Men’s A Division will play the Gold tees both days.
  • The Men’s B and Senior Men’s A Divisions will play the Blue tees both days.
  • The Senior B Division will play the Blue tees on the Reynolds Course and White tees on the Championship Course.

  • Your scorecard shall be returned to the Tournament Committee with appropriate number of signatures. If all Players are on one scorecard, all four players must sign the scorecard. Individual scorecards must be signed by the player and the marker. A scorecard is deemed returned when the score is posted on the scoreboard.
  • The player returning the lowest 36 hole score in each Division will be declared the winner of the Division. If there is a tie for 1st place (Gross or Net), there will be a sudden-death playoff to determine the winner. Resolution of ties for other positions will be determined by the USGA recommended method.
  • Payouts will be Net and Gross within each Division, with the number of payouts determined by the number of entries in each Division. At a minimum, there will be a 1st Gross and 1st Net paid in each Division. Player will be paid the highest payout they are eligible for.

Easy Day Format

  • This is not a postable round.
  • All players will play from the RED Tees.
  • The field will be divided into (up to) six divisions based on age and handicap index.  Players may choose to compete in any division in which they are eligible.
    • Men A: 7.9 index or less (all ages)
    • Men B: 8.0 index or higher (all ages)
    • Senior Men A: 7.9 index or less (age 55+)
    • Senior Men B: 8.0 index or higher (age 55+)
    • Super Senior Men’s A:  7.9 index or less (age 65+)
    • Super Senior Men’s B:  8.0 index or greater (age 65+)
  • A minimum of four entries are required to create a division.  Otherwise, divisions are combined together at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.  Division changes are not allowed after entries are closed.
  • Payouts will be Net and Gross within each flight, with the number of payouts determined by the number of entries in each flight. At a minimum, there will be a 1st Gross and 1st Net paid in each flight. Players will be paid the highest payout they are eligible for.
  • Players will be assigned 50% of their Handicap to determine Net payouts.
  • Lift, Clean, and Place: you may place your ball within one club length no closer to the hole in the same condition – fairway, rough and bunkers, but not water hazards (unless you’re using a throw – see below).
  • If there happens to be snow on the course, you can place your ball one club length no closer to the hole out of the snow.
  • A combination of 3 mulligans OR throws is available for purchase prior to starting the round. A throw is not considered a new stroke, but is an extension of your prior stroke.
    • The throw must be taken from approximately one step behind the point where the ball originally resided – no running to get a better throw!!
    • If you choose to use a throw to drop a ball into the hole, your body must stay behind the point where the ball originally resided; but you may lean forward from that point.
    • The competitor must announce to his fellow competitor that he intends to use a mulligan or a throw.
    • You are responsible for keeping track of your throws/mulligans
  • If you can get to your ball in any hazard (water or otherwise) without the use of a club or a ball retriever and throw it, that is legal – but counts as a throw.
  •  Gimmies are good inside of 18″.  A gimmie string, or an 18″ ‘mark’ on your putter may be provided by the tournament committee, at their discretion.  NOTE:  Gimmies count as an additional stroke – you just don’t have to putt them.
  • Ties will be determined with a scorecard playoff of the back nine score, if that doesn’t decide it will go to the last 6 hole score, if that doesn’t decide it will go to the last 3 hole score, if that doesn’t decide it we will go to the front 9 hole score, then the last 6 holes on the front 9, if still not settled then the last 3 holes on the front 9. If that doesn’t decide it we go by hardest handicap hole to the easiest.

Five-Club

The tournament is called the “5-Club Memorial’ because years ago, a TGA member passed away while playing this event. We’ve lost some good friends and competitors throughout the years. If you feel it’s appropriate, take a moment to remember those folks during your round.

  • This is not a postable round.
  • You select the five (5) clubs that you wish to use. If you choose a putter, that does count as one of your five clubs.
  • Field divided into six Divisions based upon handicap index and age. Players may choose to compete in any Division in which they are eligible.
    • Men A: 7.9 index or less (all ages, Blue Tees)
    • Men B: 8.0 index or higher (all ages, Blue Tees);
    • Senior Men A: 7.9 index or less (age 55+,White Tees);
    • Senior Men B: 8.0 index or higher (age 55+,White Tees);
    • Super Senior Men’s A:  7.9 index or less (age 65+, Senior tees)
    • Super Senior Men’s B:  8.0 index or greater (age 65+, Senior tees)
  • A minimum of five entries is required to create a Division. Otherwise, Divisions are combined together at the discretion of the tournament Committee. Division changes are not allowed after entries close.
  • Lift, clean and place in your own fairway.
  • Root and rock rule in effect ‘between the tree lines’ on the Reynolds Course. Confirm with your playing partners before taking any relief. You may move your ball one club length.
  • 18 hole stroke play event.
  • Payouts will be Net and Gross within each Division, with the number of payouts determined by the number of entries in each Division. At a minimum, there will be a 1st Gross and 1st Net paid in each Division. Player will be paid the highest payout they are eligible for.

Hatfield and McCoy

    • The Hatfield and McCoy Tournament is designed to give one group of the Association ‘bragging’ rights for the next year.
    • The participants are divided into two opposing groups = either a Hatfield or a McCoy. Once you are assigned to a group, you remain in that group for as long as you are a member of the Association.
    • To determine the matches to be played, the Captains will meet at the Pairing Party and assemble their respective pairings.
    • The Captain of the defending team will offer up a Player (Player A). Then the opposing Captain will decide who he wants to face that Player (Player B). Once the initial pairing has been determined, the preselected partners will then be paired.
    • The Captains then alternate offering a selection until the rosters have been set. Note: Different pairings are selected for each day.
    • The format consists of a Hatfield 2-man team playing a McCoy 2-man team in a front/back/overall (i.e. a “nassau”) four-ball (or Team) match as follows:
    • The lowest handicap player will play at scratch and each of the other three players in the group will receive the full difference in strokes as the strokes fall on the scorecard.
    • Total possible points for the two-man teams are: two for the front nine; two for the back nine, and two for overall — for a maximum of six (6) points.
    • If the matches are tied, the two points are split (one point for each team).
    • Total possible points for the entire Hatfield/McCoy teams depends on the number of teams in that year’s competition.
    • TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES (Play-off Matches) –
    • In the event of a tie, there shall be a sudden-death play-off, beginning on hole #1 to determine the winning team. Team captains will have selected one participant to represent their team at the Pairing Party.  The names will be placed in a sealed envelope to be opened in the event of a tie.
    • I. The sudden-death play-off will involve only the two individuals pre-selected by their Captains.
    • II. The sudden-death play-off will involve the same format of play as used during the regular match for an individual match, and the strokes will be assigned based on the highest handicap player of the two players receiving the full difference in strokes, as they fall on the scorecard, between his handicap and that of his opponent.

    Individual Points

    • This is a postable round!!!!
    • All flights will be played from the blue tees except the last flight which will be played from the white tees.
    • All putts must be holed out, (no gimmies) unless ESC is reached.
    • All flights will be played for gross score.
    • All flights should pick up after triple bogey. Post your most likely score not to exceed ESC.
    • The ball is to be played as it lies unless otherwise stated in the clubhouse on Saturday morning.
    • Ties will be determined with a scorecard playoff of the back nine score, if that doesn’t decide it will go to the first 9 hole score, if that doesn’t decide it we will go to the 18 hole score and if that doesn’t decide it we go by hardest handicap hole to the easiest Everybody’s target # will be determined by (36) minus the player’s course handicap. Max course handicap is 36.
      • Example: A 12 handicap target # is 24 points. The # of total points minus your target # is what is how the winners are determined.
    • Range finders that measure yardage only are allowed.
    • USGA Rules apply except when superseded by local rules.
    • Scoring Format:
      • Double bogies or worse – -1 point
      • Bogies- +1 point
      • Par- +2 points
      • Birdies- +4 points
      • Eagles- +8 points
      • Double Eagles- +16 points

    Irish Rumble

    • This is a postable round
    • Each team will be comprised of three or four players. There will be an A, B, C and hopefully a D player.
    • Players will play tees as follows: Men’s A = Blue, Men’s B and Senior Men’s A/B = White, Super Seniors = Black.
    • Golfers may play one tee back with strokes adjusted accordingly.
    • You must declare the tee you plan to play at sign-up.
    • Each team will consist of (hopefully) four players.  We might have some three player teams so these teams will take par as a partner on (18) since you must post four scores on the 18th hole. Each team member will play each hole as an individual but part of a team. The first six holes (1-6) the team will post one net score, the next six holes (7-12) the team will post two net scores, holes (13-17) the team will post three net scores, then on (18) your team will post all four net scores.
    • Each player will play the own ball throughout the tournament.
    • We will play the ball down if possible but depends on weather and conditions.
    • If the players score will count towards the team score, it must be putted out – no gimmes.
    • If you are ‘out’ of the hole, to speed up play you can pick up and write down your ‘most likely’ score for the hole.
    • The winning team will be the team with the lowest NET total. Par for 1-6 ( 1 score counts) is 23.  Par for 7-12 ( 2 scores count) would be 46.  Par for 13-17 ( 3 scores count) would be 60 and par for the 18th ( 4 scores count) hole would be 16. So if your team shot even par for all holes your total team score would be 145.
    • Range finders that measure yardage only are allowed.
    • USGA Rules apply except when superseded by local rules.

  • The field will be divided into (up to) six divisions based on age and handicap index.  Players may choose to compete in any division in which they are eligible.
    • Men A: 7.9 index or less (all ages) – Gold Plates
    • Men B: 8.0 index or higher (all ages) – Blue Plates
    • Senior Men A: 7.9 index or less (age 55+) – Blue Plates
    • Senior Men B: 8.0 index or higher (age 55+) – Blue (MGA) Tees
    • Super Senior Men’s A:  7.9 index or less (age 65+) – White Plates
    • Super Senior Men’s B:  8.0 index or greater (age 65+) – White Tees
  • USGA Rules apply except when superseded by local rules (see below). We’ll play the ball down – it’s Tough Day
  • Local rule 1: If ball is lost in leaves, free drop at spot agreed to by fellow competitors. The lost ball should be in a place where you would not have lost it under normal conditions (i.e. if you’re 50 yards in the woods, this exception does NOT apply…). No penalty stroke.
  • Local rule 2: #5 Rule: If you can’t make it across the pond on #5, your drop zone is anywhere on the ladies tee box. Standard penalty stroke applies (you’re laying two, and hitting three).
  • Standard TGA Protocol Rules apply.
  • Range finders that measure yardage only are allowed.
  • The format is a 18 hole stroke play event.
  • Your scorecard shall be returned to the Tournament Committee with two signatures. A scorecard is deemed returned when the score is posted on the scoreboard.
  • The player returning the lowest 18 hole score in each flight will be declared the winner of the flight. If there is a tie for 1st place, the winner will be determined by the USGA recommended method.

Three Tee

(formerly Red, White and Blue)

  • This is not a postable round due to the mixed use of tees.
  • It will be played as an 18-hole stroke play event.
  • Lift, Clean, and Place; you may place your ball within one club length no closer to the hole in your own fairway.
  • Each player selects the 6 holes to play from three separate sets of tees based on age/handicap. The choices will be
    • Gold, Blue, and White
    • Blue, White and Red
    • White, Senior, and Red.
  • Please play the tee markers, not the plates.
  • Prior to arriving at the course, please have a reasonably good idea/strategy of which tees you’ll play – please don’t plan to ‘make it up as you go along’.
As you depart the green, please inform your partners which tee you plan to play on the next hole.
  • The scorekeeper is responsible for recording each players score, and clearly indicating which tee.  The player is responsible for verifying they have played six holes from each tee.
  • Please keep pace with the group in front of you, and play ready golf.
  • Range finders that measure yardage only are allowed.
  • USGA Rules apply except when superseded by local rules.

US Open Pairing

  • More information will be coming as the tournament approaches, but  in a nutshell, this is straight-up golf, with a twist ….

  • Prior to teeing off, (TGA) players will select ANY US Open player to combine their round with their Saturday round
  • Note: It is not US Open total 4-day score – just SATURDAYS round
  • Multiple (TGA) players can pick the same US Open player
  • Players will play and return their signed scorecard
  • Players should go somewhere, and drink beverages of their choice and watch and enjoy the US Open
  • Winners will be calculated after the completion of Saturday’s US Open round.
