On April 5th, Team Tanglewood headed east to take on Forest Oaks Country Club at their place. We got bumped to a new pod this year and have never played Forest Oaks so we didn’t know what to expect. Course was in fairly good shape, wind was whipping but good golf in all groups was played.

In the first match we had Eli Kennedy and Kenny Flynn. Match was back and forth until the turn, the guys from Forest Oaks caught fire, shooting a best ball 28 on inward 9 to take a win 3 and 2. Making the score 12.5 to 7.5 Forrest Oaks after first match.

Second match was Stevie Blankenship and myself. We played solid on the front, winning 2 of our stroke holes and then holding court making the turn 2 up. We won 12 and 13 to get 4 up before losing the 14th. We finished birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie to put away the match. Winning our match 14-6. Making the overall 21.5 to 18.5 Tanglewood.

Third match was BJ Richardson and David Wilson. It was a match of “grinders”. We got up early, then lost a few in the middle of the front 9 before winning number 9 to go 1 down at the turn. BJ and David won 13,14,15 to take a 2 up lead before losing 2 of the last 3 to birdies to have their match end 10-10. Score for match is now 31.5 to 28.5 in favor of Tanglewood.

4th and Final match of the day was Patrick O’Shields and Chad Carter. Their match was similar to the others, tight first 9 with us making the turn 1 up. But Patrick and Chad won 11,12,14 and 15 and was able to pull away from Forest Oaks winning the match 4 and 3. Points 12.5 to 7.5.

Bringing the final total 44 to 36 in favor of Team Tanglewood. It was a great win for us today and kicks our season off on the right foot. Can’t win them all unless you win the first. Looking forward to seeing what we can do this year. Thanks to all the guys who played today for showing up and putting their best effort to help us get a crucial first win of the year.
