from Mark Harper, Jr.-Captain
April 26th–Team Tanglewood took on Colonial at home. We were able to get 6 new guys on the roster, and they performed!
First match was myself and Kenny Flynn. We shot best ball 64 and they shot best ball 64. It was a match of 2 nines. We were up 4 at the turn and they made a strong come back playing really well on the back. We were able to hold on for the 1 up victory. 11.5 to 8.5 after first match. 13 holes were birdied in this match.
Second match was David Summers and Josh Dalton. They both played very solid, never lost a hole the entire match. David and Josh were both getting shots in this match. David was low man by 4 shots, and Josh tied the other 2 opponents with 78. They were dominant and won by the biggest margin I remember as interclub captain, 14.5 to 5.5
Third match was Chris Martin and Brady Rockey. They were each getting 2 shots off the low guy and both shot 75. Great playing. They were in a dog fight, down 1 after 13 and Chris and Brady were able to win 3 holes coming in to win by 2 and winning on points 12-8.
Last match was Michael Gilmore and Zach Barnes. Usually we would be getting shots in that match but they had to give up 2. That didn’t bother this duo, they won the front 6.5 to 2.5, both played solid but Zach was consistent all day shooting an 82. They held off a strong back 9 comeback from Colonial to win 11.5 to 8.5.
Team Tanglewood 49.5 Team Colonial 30.5. This was the biggest win I can remember in the Regular Interclub. Was a great team win today, everyone did their job, and Tanglewood moves to 2-0 for the season to date.
Our next match is at home vs Twilight(Holly Ridge) on May 10th. Nice thing about this win — we were able to add 6 more guys to the playoff roster. If you would like to play May 10th, send me an email or text. Go Tanglewood!!!
