from Hugh Quinn, Super Senior Interclub Captain
The TGA’s Super Senior Interclub Team pulled the ox out of the ditch today vs. Bermuda Run West. The final score was Tanglewood: 43.5 – BR West: 36.5.
The ox got in the ditch early and after the 1st match, Tanglewood only had 5.5 points. Hugh Quinn and David Edenfield took a good old fashioned whuppin’ from Jim Miller and Carl Karpinski. Jim shot 65 and their net score was 61. Enough said.
But the second match almost got us back to even thanks to a Joe Crocker/Mark Hartson whuppin’ of their own winning 14 out of 20 points against Bobby Brown and Joseph Freer. It’s been reported that Hartson duplicated Nick Taylor’s seventy-two foot eagle putt to win the Canadian Open Championship last week. Mark did his for a birdie on the 11th hole which was a true shoulder-slumper for their opponents.
The third match had Paul Meyer and Sam Crawley winning 12 points and their opponents, Chick Henn and Rod Guthrie, getting 8. This gave us a 3.5 lead with one match to go. BTW, did I mention Sam shot 76!
In the final match, Chip Baker and Ray Brewer brother-in-lawed their way to a 12 – 8 point win over their opponents Sam Morgan and Robert Bedick.
A great team performance and they got the ox out of the ditch! Thanks guys!
This brings our season record to 2-2.
Next up is away at Oak Valley on Tuesday, 6/20, and our final match will be June 27 vs. Rock Barn at home. A couple more hills to climb. Go Team Tanglewood!
