On May 22nd, Team Tanglewood’s Super Senior Interclub team played at Maple Chase today and came out with a win 43.5 to 36.5.! And it wasn’t easy. It was windy all day with steady 18 mph winds and gusts up to 33 mph. Plus their new bent grass greens were extremely firm and very hard to hold.

In the first match, Scott Wearn and Dickie Brewer were 1 up after 9 and 2 up after 13. Then their opponents got hot and won the next 3 holes to go 1 up after 16 holes. But Scott came through with a clutch par putt on #17 to get back to even and Dickie followed that up with a birdie on #18 to win the match 1 up!

In the second match, Tom Birrittieri and Mike Buckler were 1 down after 9 and alternated birdies on the next two holes with their opponents before halving the next 4 holes. Their opponents made a net birdie on #16 to win the hole and go 2 up. On #17, their opponents made a lengthy par putt to tie the hole. Their opponents also won #18 to win the match 3 up.

In the third match, Gene Cox and Mark Hartson were 1 down after 9 and won #13 to get back to even. Their opponents won #14 to go 1 up. Our guys won holes #15 and 16 to take a one hole lead. The final two holes were halved giving Team Tanglewood a one up win in the match.

In the final match, Paul Meyer and Sam Crawley burst out of the gates to go 3 up after 3. They were 2 up after 9 holes. They won #12 to go 3 up but lost #15. They won #16 to go 3 up and closed it out with another win on #18 to finish 4 up.

It was a tough day to play but all our guys hung in there and got us a win bringing our season record to 1 & 1.
