It was brought to my attention today at the Not So Irish Rumble, that there had been no update to the Regular Interclub season matches played thus far. Here you go Stevie.

2023 Regular interclub Tanglewood vs. Salem Glen Sunday April 2nd.

Tanglewood Regular interclub played their first match of the year against Salem Glen away. Typically, Salem Glen has struggled when playing Tanglewood even at their home course. This match would prove different.

Stevie Blankenship and Eli Kennedy were off first and had their hands full with an ex pro that shot 66 gross! Stevie and Eli shot a net best ball 63, with Stevie needing to make a bomb on 18 for the halve. Great playing by these 2 with Eli 71 and Stevie 75.

Match 2 had Brian Sainz and BJ Richardson playing against a couple scratch guys. This was a close match with Brian and BJ shooting 1 over on the front and were all square headed to hole 10. Salem Glen’s blue tees were obviously not an issue for Brian’s new bionic hip. The Tanglewood juggernauts fought hard on the back 9 and managed a 2 up win.

Our 3rd match had Jim Williams and David Wilson out against a formidable Salem Glen team. Jim and David brother-in-lawed well on the front and went in to the back only one down. Both teams had 3 birdies on the back, but Salem Glen continued their strong play for a 4 up win. Jim Williams said their team played well, but was ultimately “out Jimmed” for the loss.

The last match of the day had Charlie Fisher and Michael Gilmore in what proved to be a hard fought match. At one point, our guys were 4 down on the front, but fought back and were only 2 down at the turn, and after 11, we’re only 1 down. Charlie said one of their opponents was hitting it 80 yards by them all day and Salem Glen prevailed with a one up victory.

Overall point totals were Salem Glen 42.5 Tanglewood 37.5.

All of our guys played hard but ultimately, Tanglewood was just outplayed or possibly even “out Jimmed”.
