2023 Senior Inter-club AT Meadowlands and AT High Point CC

The Senior (55+) Interclub team played twice this week, with away matches Tuesday at Meadowlands, and today (Thursday) at High Point Country Club.

Neither match went quite as we’d hoped!!

Therefore, we have some good news, and some bad news.

First, the good news. We are playoff bound, with a 4-2 overall record, and still have a chance to win our Pod.

This week we also played five 2023 Senior Interclub rookies, including Terry Payne, who turned 55 today. Happy birthday, Terry!

With these five additional guys, we were able to play 31 different players this year, and have arguably one of (if not THE) largest playoff rosters to choose from.

We also had some really nice performances this week.

At Meadowlands Tuesday, Glenn Levine shot a 1-over 73. He was our low man, and the second lowest score of the entire match.

At HPCC today, Patrick Hynes, bad back and all, shot a 2-over 74. Dickie Brewer shot a 78, and team Terry Payne/Mike Utt shot 2-over 74 in their match to win handily.

The bad news? Really, not too much bad news. We lost two in a row this week, but those loses won’t impact our future.

We’ve had a great regular season run with our Seniors, and a lot of folks participated this year to “grow the Interclub”. I think everyone enjoyed themselves and we were able to play some really nice courses.

We’ll know more about our playoff opponents in a month or so, and with some luck, we may even get a ‘bye’ in the first round, depending on how the rest of the season plays out for everyone else.

Tom Long and I want to thank you for allowing us the privilege to captain this year. It makes it so much easier to have such a deep talent pool (and willing participants) at Tanglewood.

We never struggle to find guys to play in matches, like so many other clubs do, and everyone is willing to jump in and help out whenever their names are called.

Thanks for a great REGULAR SEASON…. To be continued…. In the playoffs, BABY!!!

TANGLEWOOD!!
