The 2023 Forsyth Senior Championships was held on Thursday and Friday of this week.
The courses (and greens) couldn’t have been more different, as Thursday’s round was played on the small, hump back, shag carpet greens of Pine Knolls, and Friday’s round on the large, firm and quick greens of Tanglewood.
Tanglewood and the Tanglewood Golf Association were well represented, and came oh-so-close to a trophy sweep.
The overall champion, his first on the Senior Circuit, was Tanglewood’s Duck Dynasty co-star, Kenny Flynn. Kenny shot a pair of 71’s and won going away – by a full five shots!
In the Super Senior division, our own Hugh Quinn fought back from 3-down on Friday and posted a nice little 72 to tie for the lead at the end of 36 holes. Unfortunately, Hugh fell just short in the one-hole playoff and wound up finishing second.
Other TGA members who represented included Glenn Levine (who finished tied for third!), Gregor Howard, Todd Brown, Mark Harper Sr., Joe Crocker and Dan Eldridge.
Congratulations fellas on a great showing!
